Jesse Nelson “Punch” Arrington, Jr. was born on January 15, 1946, in Littleton, North Carolina, to the late Jesse James Arrington and Annie Corrine Johnson Arrington. He went home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2015, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Jesse accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and he then completed high school in Newport News, Virginia. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, was honorably discharged, and began employment with AT&T in Richmond, Virginia, where he remained until the end of his career.
“Punch” loved to travel and had resided in Florida, California, and Georgia before returning home to Littleton, North Carolina. He was exceptionally intelligent with a strong strength of character and profound integrity that were unmatched. When he gave you his word, he could always be counted on to keep it. He had a great heart and loved his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David McArthur Arrington.
Those remaining to share in the legacy of his love and treasure the memory of his life are his brothers, James Edward Arrington (Irene) and Gilbert Wayne Arrington; his sister, Christine Olivia Arrington; his uncle, Willie Arrington; two aunts, Nell Austin and Lucille Williams; his cousin, Yvonne Manley (Samuel); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. “Punch” will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. Rev. Tommy Arrington will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home in Littleton.
