JASPER ALLEN “JUNE” DANIEL, JR., was born to the late Jasper Allen Daniel, Sr. and Stella Mae Medlin Daniel Copeland on November 12, 1946, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life during the early morning hours on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at his home in the Sunnyside Community of Littleton, North Carolina.
Jasper professed faith and belief in Jesus Christ as a youth and became a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina, where he once served as a Deacon and a Trustee. Jasper received his formal education in the Halifax County Public School System, and he graduated from the former McIver High School in Littleton, North Carolina, with the class of 1965. He then served his country in the United States Army and was awarded an Honorable Discharge. He later attended Halifax Community College in Weldon, North Carolina, and received certification in Textile Supervision in 1982, and Industrial Maintenance in 1992. Armed with strong work ethics and the desire to achieve, Jasper became employed with J. P. Stevens and Company of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Glen Raven Mills of Norlina, North Carolina, and Trinity Industries of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Jasper enjoyed farming, having cook-outs, fishing, metal detecting, listening to old Blues music, expressing his fascination with old cars, and sharing time with family and friends. Sunday dinners and holiday celebrations were very special to him for family gatherings, and he always willingly and lovingly provided for his family. He would often remark, “I AM THE PROVIDER!”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raleigh Daniel and Nancy Green Daniel; his maternal grandparents, Hillary Medlin and Carry Saums Medlin; his nephew, Donald Ray Daniel; and his very special aunt, Pearl Medlin Silver.
Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memory of his life and love are his devoted wife, Angelean “Angie” Daniel of the home; his two sons, Michael DuVaughan Daniel (Gloria) of Phoenix, AZ, and his “Skeeter”, Jasper Allen “Jay” Daniel III ( Andreka) of Littleton, NC; five grandchildren, Edwardio, Milan, Kanyle, Jayden, and Jayden; one sister, Helen Va Daniel Smith of Littleton, NC; one brother, Furby Ray Daniel (Cathy) of Tarboro, NC; two aunts; two uncles; two sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Dr. C.E. McCollum, will officiate, and burial will follow in the Daniel Family Cemetery, Highway #4, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M. on Friday, August 17, 2018, and the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
