Irene Elconnie Daniels Williams, was born May 1, 1928 in Enfield, North Carolina, to the late, Hough Daniels, Sr. and Viola B. Burgess Daniels. Connie was the third oldest girl of ten children in the Daniels household. Hazel, Louise, Olivia, Hough Jr., and James, all of whom preceded her in death. Connie departed this life at her home in Maryland, on Friday, April 5th, 2019, after battling a brief illness.
Connie gave her life to Christ at an early age when she joined the Wayman AME church in Enfield, North Carolina. She received her Bachelors in Education from Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina.
Connie met and married her soulmate, the late Rev. Clarence J. Williams in May of 1954, and the two moved to Baltimore to start their life together. In November of 1956, their union was blessed with their only child, a son, Rex Delane Williams.
Connie was employed as a grade school teacher for the Baltimore City Public School System, where she taught at Lafayette Elementary School before retiring.
Connie and Clarence were very active and faithful members of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, where she remained an active member until ill health prevailed. She served on many boards and became a Deaconess of the church.
Connie enjoyed large family gatherings, especially dinners. She was infamous for her Christmas Breakfasts, everyone always looked forward to them. Anyone who had a place in her heart, definitely had a place in her house. Connie was loved and admired by everyone, she had a heart of gold. Her laugh was infectious, and her spirit was contagious. She was a sharp dresser and was even sharper with her tongue. She was a lot of things to a lot of people, but she was truly a woman of GOD. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed sharing and helping in anyway possible. She will be sorely missed.
Connie leaves to cherish her loving memories to her son, Delane; her daughter- in- law, Vanessa; three grandchildren, Nikole (Lawrence), Crystal & Antonio; seven great-grandchildren, Lawrence, JaQuan, Braelen, Tristian, J’nyah, Payton and Jayce; one godchild, Rochelle Purnell; one sister, Lavern Davis (Tommy) of Randallstown, Maryland; three brothers, Wilbur Daniels, Carl Daniels (JoAnn), and McAuthor Daniels all of Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Paulette Smith, Gail Malone, and Leslie Gregg.
