IDA LEE entered into eternal rest and peace on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Hospice and Palliative Care in Bronx, New York. She was born to the late Thaddeus Lee and Mary Bowser Lee on June 5, 1911, in Halifax County, North Carolina, and was the fifth child of eight girls and three boys.
During her early life, she professed her love and faith in Jesus Christ and became a member of the Lee’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System.
As a young lady, Ida relocated to New York City, New York, and began a new chapter in her life working as a Domestic Technician. She became a member of the Second Canaan Baptist Church, but always kept her home church, Lee’s Chapel, close in her heart and spirit.
Aunt Ida, as she was known by family and friends, opened her home to many family members who were trying to get a start in life. She enjoyed people and never missed an opportunity to attend family reunions, birthdays, or other special occasions where she would sing, tell jokes, and talk about the Bible and her childhood. She loved good food, and oh, how she could eat! She will be forever remembered as a loving and caring soul who was kind to everyone she encountered.
In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by her siblings, Claude, Kemp. Gid, Ella, Fannie, Bertha, Carolyn, Clementine, Bell and Nettie.
Those remaining to cherish the memory of her life and reflect upon the legacy of her love are her devoted caregiver, her niece, Mary Emma Coppedge; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Lee’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Jeffrey Anderson, will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
