Henrietta Richardson Burgess was born to Frankie Nicholson Richardson and the late Basie Richardson on March 15, 1953, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She retired from this earthly life on Monday, April 6, 2015, at Nash UNC Hospital in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
As a young girl, Henrietta accepted Christ and was baptized at the Lebanon A.M.E. Church in Littleton, North Carolina, where she remained a member and was faithful in her worship until ill health prevailed.
Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, where she graduated from the former Eastman High School in Enfield, North Carolina, with the class of 1972. She then began employment with the former J.P. Stevens and Company in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Henrietta was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles Burgess. God blessed this union with two children.
In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Burgess.
Those remaining to forever treasure her precious memory and continue her legacy of love are her daughter, Alicia Burgess; two grandsons, Tr’Ali Hyman and Mar’Tez Greene; her mother, Frankie Richardson; her siblings, Gloria Evans (Johnathan), Bettie Ingram, Evelyn Richardson, Basie D. Richardson, Marcile Richardson (Avery), Stacey Richardson, Susan Phipps, and Joyce Neville (Kenneth); her brother of the heart, James Lee (Charlane); her nieces, Tonya, Juankia, Evangela, Sabrina, Ashley, and Joy; her nephews, Herbert, Kendrell, Joshua, Dantrel, Johnny, and Donnell; a special cousin, Tracey Batchelor; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the funeral home. Pastor Joanne Boyd will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Lebanon A.M.E. Church Cemetery, US Highway 48, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home on Saturday, April 11, 2015, from 12:00 Noon – 5:00 P.M., and on Sunday for one hour prior to the funeral time.
