Helena Harvey Williams

HELENA HARVEY WILLIAMS, daughter of the late Jerry Harvey and Luticia Solomon Harvey, was born on November 29, 1940, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She peacefully departed this earthly life in the comfort of her own home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, on Saturday, December 30, 2017.

During her early life, Helena accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized, and became a member of the Liberty Rock Church in Crisfield, Maryland. Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System. She became employed at Marion Elementary School in Marion Station, Maryland, where she remained until her retirement.

Helena was united in Holy Matrimony to James Robert Williams, who preceded her in death. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. No matter what happened, she never lost faith in family, and more importantly, she never lost faith in God. Helena loved her sports- Wrestling, The Duke Blue Devils, and the Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helena was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Harvey, Sr.

Those left not to mourn, but to cherish the precious memory of her life and  love are her daughter, Erma Harvey of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her loyal nephew whom she considered as her son, Andrew Harvey of the home; six brothers, James Harvey (Willie Mae), William Harvey, and Ricky Harvey all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Jeremiah Harvey of Rocky Mount, NC, Herbert Harvey (Annette) of Garysburg, NC, and Ray Dock Harvey (Sonia) of New Berga, NY; five sisters, Stella Corley of Littleton, NC, Helen Taylor (Andrew) of Garysburg, NC, Willie Jean Harvey, Cynthia Harvey, and Cassandra Harvey all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; another sister-in-law, Clara Harvey of Roanoke Rapids, NC; one uncle, Wilson Harvey of Enfield, NC; two aunts, Clara Arrington of Enfield, NC, and Hattie Mae Alston of Boston, MA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, in the chapel of the funeral home. Apostle James Lassiter will officiate, and burial will follow in the Zion Hill Missionary Church Cemetery, 43 Stansbury Road, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M. on Friday, January 5, 2018.
