Franklin Sidney “Frank” Simms, son of the late Tee Ellis Simms, Sr. and Ernestine Alston Simms Mills, was born on January 28, 1957, in Littleton, North Carolina, and departed this earthly life on Sunday, August 17, 2014, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
During his early life, he professed faith in Jesus Christ and joined the Enon Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina.
His formal education was received in the Roanoke Rapids City School System of Halifax County, North Carolina. He became employed with the former J.P. Stevens and Company of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Frank was previously married to the former Christina Valdivia. He led a full life that touched the hearts of many. He was an avid fisherman, loved doing mechanics on all types of vehicles, and had a gift for working with his hands.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, Thomas Edison “Adison” Mills, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Diana “Cookie” Simms.
Those left to cherish the precious memories of his life and love are his six brothers, Tee Ellis Simms, Jr. (Erica) and Rufus Mills of Littleton, NC, Deloney Mills (Cassandra) of Halifax, NC, Ernest Mills of Elizabeth City, NC, and Ronald Simms and Steven Mills of Raleigh, NC; his three sisters, Belinda Simms Sterling (Rev. Edward Sterling) of Grand Prairie, TX, Thomasina Mills Lockley (Kenneth) of Raleigh, NC, and Zelma Mills-Mohammed of Fayetteville, NC; his aunt, Leola Mills of Brooklyn, NY; a very special friend, Golena Butler of Raleigh, NC; ten nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and nephews; six honorary children; one honorary granddaughter; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 23, 2014, in the Robinson Funeral Home Chapel, 215 US 158, Littleton, NC. Minister Isabeller A. Wills will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the Robinson Family Cemetery, North Main Street, Littleton. The body will repose until 8:30 P.M. on Friday evening, August 22, 2014, at the funeral home, and the family will receive friends on Saturday for one hour prior to the funeral time.
