Eva B. Burgess Davis

img045EVA B. BURGESS DAVIS, daughter of the late Herbert Burgess and Carrie Alston Burgess, was born on October 13, 1942, in Halifax County, North Carolina, and departed this earthly life on Friday, October 10, 2014, in the serenity of her home in Littleton, North Carolina.

During her early life, she professed faith in Christ, was baptized, and became a member of the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina, where she remained a faithful member until God called her home. She dutifully served her church in the Usher and Trustee ministries, and held past affiliations with the Deaconess and Choir ministries.

Her formal education was received in the public school system of Halifax County, North Carolina. She was employed with Action Sportswear in Littleton, North Carolina, for many years before joining the Home Life Care Agency where she retired. She loved taking care of her clients. She enjoyed working in her yard and beautifying it with colorful flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Shorty” Davis; her son Ricky Lee Davis; and her brothers, Wade Jefferson and McKinley Patterson.

Those left to forever treasure the precious memories of her life and love are her son, Antonio Burgess (Bessie) of Littleton, NC; her precious daughter, Tonia Tyrone (Cedric) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; eight grandchildren, Devin Davis, Eboni Burgess, Cortez Pierce, Ariel Burgess, Ceona Tyrone, Brittany Tyrone, Vanessa Bowser, and Keyunna Taylor; one great-grandchild, Zyreanna Davis; one loving sister, Arlene Barfield of Enfield, NC; three uncles, Willie B. Burgess of Littleton, NC, Cleveland Faulcon (Rose) of Baltimore, MD, and McKinley Faulcon of Bayville, NJ; a special aunt-of-the-heart, Annie Hawkins of Littleton, NC; her loving aunts, Mattie Shearin (John) and Bessie Harrison (Alvin) of South Ozone Park, NY, Berline Johnson of Baltimore, MD, and Emma Alston and Gail Patterson of Littleton, NC; a dedicated mother-in-law, Odelia Davis of Littleton, NC; a very special sister-in-law, Christine Davis of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a devoted sister-in-law, Willie Mae Davis of Littleton, NC; seven other sisters-in-law; five  brothers-in-law; special cousins, Genette Faulcon, Rev. Elaine Garner, Catherine Hamiel, Jeanette Davis, and Linda McRae; special neighbors, Kenny Jefferson, Randolph Manley (Mary), Leon Rosser (Brenda), and especially, Barbara Silver (Billy); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 17, 2014, at the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. Rev. Mark Barfield will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 16, 2014, and at the church for one hour prior the funeral time.
