Eula Mae Richardson Harvey

PhotoEULA MAE RICHARDSON HARVEY, affectionately called “Punk”, was the proud daughter of the late Stephen Mac Richardson and Beulah Mills Richardson. She was born in Halifax County, North Carolina, on August 18, 1940, and was the third child of thirteen siblings. She entered into eternal rest and peace on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.

Eula received Christ in her life and joined the Hollister Chapel Baptist Church in Hollister, North Carolina, many years ago, and was a faithful member until her health failed in the early 2000’s. She still loved listening to her gospel songs. Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System.

On December 8, 1965, in Warren County, North Carolina, Eula was united in Holy Matrimony to her beloved husband, Melvin “Blow” Harvey, who preceded her in death.

“Punk” was well-known around the Hollister community for her down-home cooking, and she took great pride in preparing meals for her family and friends, which was truly her passion. She loved talking about the good old days and knew a lot of family history, which came in handy when she helped prepare a family history book on the Mills, Eaton, Spruill, and Richardson families. She was also a lady who loved to keep the peace.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Lewis, Morris, Murdock, and Ernest; three sisters, Louise, Hattie Mae, and Cleo; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Waverly and Essie Mae Harvey; and all of her uncles and aunts.

Although profound sadness is overwhelming, precious memories of her life and love will last forever in the hearts and minds of her only child, Ella Mae Richardson of the home; three dedicated grandsons, Wanlday Richardson, Rance Richardson, and Jerry Richardson (Alyiah) all of Hollister, NC; one granddaughter, Alana Richardson of Hollister, NC; four sisters, Margaret, Lucy Mae, and Mabel (Tommy) all of Hollister, NC, and Patricia (Lee) of Bailey, NC; four sisters-in-law, Beatrice, Catherine, Nannie and Bessie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, including her loyal devoted friends, Sken, Chuck, and Maurice who were always there willing to help when needed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at the Hollister Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Hollister, NC. Rev. Melvin Johnson will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Harvey Family Cemetery, 38 Flicker Lane, Hollister, NC. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the funeral home.
