Ernest Herbert Rosser

ERNEST HERBERT ROSSER, son of the late Clifton Rosser and Priscilla Cheek Rosser, was born on July 15, 1948, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at his home in the Roper Springs Community of Littleton, North Carolina.

During his early life, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized, and became an active member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and he graduated from the former McIver High School in Littleton, with the class of 1966.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Harriet Hewlin. They were blessed with two children. He later met and married the former Patricia Jarrett, and one child was born into this union.

Ernest owned and operated Rosser Trucking and Rosser Motorcycle Repair. He later  became employed as a machine technician with Consolidated Diesel (Cummins) in Whitakers, North Carolina, where he retired after seventeen years of dedicated service. He believed in hard work, had to be doing something all the time, and rarely ever stopped to rest. His favorite phrase was, “It ain’t nothing but something to do.”

After retirement, he enjoyed raising farm animals, growing vegetables in his garden, going on horse trail rides and to the rodeo with his friends and grandchildren, and spending time with family and friends. He was a mechanic, a carpenter, and a “Jack of all trades”. He could fix anything, and was always willing and ready to help anyone in the community whenever he was needed.

Ernest loved his children, his grandchildren, and his family members. He never strayed from his Christian upbringing, and the first thing he did when he got up each morning was to get on his knees and pray.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clifton Archie Rosser, Jr.; and his three sisters, Shirley Rosser, Maude Davis, and Ada Rosser-Hedgepeth.

Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memory of his life and to share the legacy of his love are his son, Ernest L. Rosser (Celena) of Waldorf, MD; his two daughters, Demetria L. “Lady” Rosser of Littleton, NC, and Keydra L. Rosser of Roanoke Rapids, NC; six grandchildren, Anja, Jalen, Eric, Adrian, Damaya, and Khalil; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Laura Brown (Jasper) of Capital Heights, MD, Ida Macon of Littleton, NC, Margaret Rosser of Brandywine, MD, Alpha Omega Johnson (Eddie) of Newport News, VA, and Lillian Alston of Forestville, MD; two brothers, Moses Rosser (Doris) of Enfield, NC, and Horace Rosser (Alice) of Forestville, MD; one brother-in-law, Coster Hedgepeth of Enfield, NC; one sister-in-law, Myra Rosser of Fort Washington, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will all miss his earthly presence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. Alonzo West will eulogize. The body will repose at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until 8:30 P.M. on Friday, July 29, 2016.
