EMMA WATSON ALSTON, daughter of the late Sam Watson and Mary Maglean Arrington Watson, was born on August 4, 1924, in Halifax County, North Carolina, and departed this earthly home to enter into peace and rest in her Heavenly home on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
During her early life, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, was baptized, and joined the St. Luke Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina, and remained in membership until her Heavenly Father called her home. Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System.
Emma was united in Holy Matrimony to Junious “BoBo” Alston, who preceded her in death. This special union of fifty-seven years was blessed with nine children. One son, Russell Alston, and one daughter, Mary Maglean Alston Petway, preceded her in death.
She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family, gardening, quilting, farming, and reading her Bible.
In addition to her parents, husband and two children, she was also predeceased by one grandson, two brothers, and five sisters.
Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memories of her life are her four daughters, Marshell Jones ( Tommie), Barbara Silver (Billy), and Leonnie Burgess (Larry) all of Littleton, NC, and Delois Hedgepeth (Eclee) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; three sons, Ronald Alston (Brenda), Jerry Alston (Mildred), and Stanley Alston (Dorothy) all of Littleton, NC; another daughter-in-law, Collie Alston of Halifax, NC; two sisters-in-law, Odelia Davis and Gail Patterson of Littleton, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who will all miss her earthly presence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 24, 2015, at the St. Luke Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Cornelius Young, will officiate, and burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 23, 2015.
