Elsie Mae Wilkins McAfee was born on February 12, 1922, in Warren County, North Carolina, and was one of the six children of the late Elnora and Heart Wilkins. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Warren Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Warrenton, North Carolina.
Her formal education was received in the Warren County Public School System. She later relocated to Benton Harbor, Michigan, where she spent the majority of her life. She joined the New Bethel Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her health began to fail. She was employed at the Zenith Corporation until her retirement after many years of dedicated service.
Elsie enjoyed visiting with her family in North Carolina, where she loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, going fishing, and taking trips to the mountains. Jeremy and Brittany looked forward to her summer visits and spending time sitting with her when they were young. Elsie loved them and they loved their Aunt Elsie. She was a special part of their lives and a very special member of their family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Danny Carter; five sisters and one brother.
Those remaining to forever treasure the memories of her life and share the spirit of her love are numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece and nephew, Kim and Clint.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the Robinson Funeral Home Chapel in Littleton, NC. Rev. Ulysses Ross will eulogize and the burial will follow in the Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, in the Elams Community of Littleton, NC.
