ELIZABETH HARRIS BRINKLEY, daughter of the late Charlie Harris and Nancy Silver Harris, was born on July 27, 1922, in Halifax County, North Carolina.  She answered God’s summon to eternal rest and peace on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Her formal education was received through the Halifax County Public School System at  McIver High School in Littleton, North Carolina. She was employed for many years at the former Jay-Too Sportswear Company in Littleton, North Carolina.

During her early life, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of the South Street Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. During her travels as a military wife, she became affiliated with churches in Frankfurt, Germany, and Temple, Texas. After returning home to Littleton, she reunited with the South Street Missionary Baptist Church and served as a dedicated Trustee, Church Clerk, Deaconess, Sunday School Youth Teacher, Choir Member, and Usher. She remained faithful and dutiful in her church until ill health prevailed. She was also a member of the Precious Jewel Chapter 607 of the Eastern Star in Littleton, North Carolina.

On February 21, 1946, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Jack A. Brinkley, who preceded her in death. God blessed this union with twins, Jimmy and Geneva Brinkley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, Jimmy; her grandson, Terry; and her four sisters and three brothers.

Those remaining to reflect upon the precious memories of her life are her daughter, Geneva B. Shyrier of the home; three granddaughters, Monica, Keyana, and Shaneequa; two grandsons, Troy and Levar; her godson, Bishop Lloyd Terrell Alston; two sisters, Rev. Nancy Hazel McFadden of the home, and Beulah Ellis of Norfolk, VA; three sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Harris of Portsmouth, VA, Queen Harris of Trenton, NJ, and Elizabeth Smith of Lumberton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 6, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. Her Pastor, Rev. Robert L. Faulcon, Sr., will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the funeral home.
