Dorothy Rean Boyd Newell

Dorothy Rean Boyd Newell was born to the late Ella Dean Boyd on July 22, 1951, in Halifax, North Carolina. She departed this physical life and received her heavenly wings on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Dorothy spent her entire life in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, where she received her formal education. She committed her life to Christ at an early age and joined the London Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, but later moved her membership to the Simmons Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained faithful until ill health prevailed. She was a dedicated member and loved to sing in the senior choir. She was employed in the sewing factory business for several years.

In 1969, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Edward Newell, and God blessed their union with six children. One daughter, Shirley Newell, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dot or Poochie, as she was affectionately called, was well-known in the community. She loved everybody, touched many lives in so many different ways with her infectious smile, and had a heart of gold.

Those left to cherish her sweet spirit and forever remember each precious moment shared are her devoted husband, Edward C. Newell, Sr. of the home; her son, Edward C.
