Demaceo Ralph Howard

On the wings of an angel, Demaceo Ralph Howard, son of the late Theodore Howard and Bettie Shearin Howard, was born on July 7, 1935, in Warren County, North Carolina. He was escorted to his Heavenly home on Sunday morning, May 10, 2015, at Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton, Virginia.

His formal education was received in the Warren County Public School System. He later attended the school of broadcasting and also the school of dental care in New York.

During his early life, Demaceo accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Olive Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. After relocating to New York, he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights in Brooklyn, New York, where he became a Deacon and taught Sunday school. In 2005, he moved to Hampton, Virginia, and joined the First Baptist Church of Hampton.

Demaceo was employed as the manager of the restaurant, “Chock Full of Nuts” for over twenty years, and even had the opportunity to work with the late baseball great, Jackie Robinson, for a short time. He would often mention this momentous experience and how proud he was to have spent time with this celebrity.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Alexander Howard, Banzet Howard, and Theodore Howard; and one sister, Maxine Howard.

Those remaining to forever cherish the precious memory of his life and love are his devoted wife of fifty-four years, Rebecca Howard; his children, Dr. Demaceo Howard (Yvonne) of Peoria, IL, and Yolanda Jackson (Eric) of Akron, OH; one granddaughter, Alexandra Howard; three grandsons, Demaceo Vincent Howard, Brandon Grimes, and Bryan Grimes; four sisters-in-law, Virginia Howell (William) of Palmer Springs, VA, Eunice Godette and Catherine Howard of Hampton, VA, and Dianne Howard of Baltimore, MD; one brother-in law, Calvin Talley of Washington, DC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 915 Eaton Ferry Road, Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Charles E. Walton, will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
