DEACON JOE LINWOOD GOINS, son of the late Spence Goins and Mary Garland Goins, was born on May 26, 1941, in Conway, North Carolina, and answered God’s summon to eternal rest and peace on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Signature Healthcare Center in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
On November 15, 1985, Joe joined the Fidelity Baptist Church in the Summit Community of Littleton, North Carolina. He served as a Deacon and remained a faithful member doing whatever he could for his church whenever he was needed. His formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and he became self-employed in the Pulpwood Industry.
In 1966, Joe was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Lillie Alston. They remained best friends forever and were married for forty-nine years. He found great joy in fishing, hunting, cooking out with family and friends, and we can’t forget how he loved and cared for animals.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Winston; seven sisters; and one brother.
Those remaining to forever share the legacy of his life and love are his devoted wife, Lillie Goins of the home; his sister, Bessie Mae Goings (Roger) of Littleton, NC; two granddaughters, Angelica and Anastasia of Richmond. VA; four great-granddaughters; one great-grandson, and another great-grandchild on the way; his son-in-law, Herman Winston of Richmond, VA; his brother-in-law, Henry Clanton of Littleton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many close, loyal friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at the Fidelity Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. John Rooks, will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
