Deacon Burman “Bro” Lee, son of the late Betsy Mills and Burman Lee, was born on November 3, 1937, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He answered God’s summon to eternalrest and peace on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, North Carolina.
During his early life, Burman accepted Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized, and became a faithful member of the Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina.He served as Superintendent of the Sunday school, was active as a church Deacon, sang with the Male Chorus, and dedicated himself to all worship services until his health began to fail.
Burman received his formal education in the Halifax County Public School System. He became employed with Enterprise Logging of Littleton, North Carolina, where he remained for numerous years.
Burman was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Katie Carter. They enjoyed many years of marriage, and he was a loving, caring, husband, father, and grandfather whose quiet manner was a true reflection of his faith and belief in God.
Those remaining to forever treasure the legacy of his life and love are his devoted wife, Katie C. Lee of the home; three children, Arthur Glenn (Elaine), Charlie Edward, and Virginia Fleming (Manuel) all of Littleton, NC; six grandchildren, Keith Williams, James Simmons III, Tameka and Lateka Carter, Shaniqua Williams, and Glenn Carter; one adopted granddaughter, Daphine Jefferson; six great-grandchildren, Jakaila Simmons, Diamond Alston, Keasia Williams, Caiden Simmons, Nyjea Carter, and Damoni Alston; two step-grandchildren, Derika and Ramone Brown; four sisters, Yvonne Byres, Eliza Mae Lee, and Mattie Lean Mills (Karl) all of New York, and Rhoda Alston of Littleton, NC; two brothers, Oscar Lee and Mack Johnson of Littleton, NC; two special friends, Juanika Richardson of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Tonya Jefferson of Littleton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church in Littleton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Timothy Edwards, will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home until 8:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
