Dea. Grover C. “Bro” Williams

Cover_photo1Dea.  Grover Clinton “Bro” Williams was born in Warren County, North Carolina, on April 18, 1929, to the late Richard Williams and Jesse Settles Williams. He was called home to glory on Friday, May 23, 2014, at Duke Medicine Pavilion in Durham, North Carolina.

His formal education was received in the Warren County Public School System. He later became employed with Nash Brick Company in Enfield, North Carolina, and retired after many years of dedicated service.

In 1950, he married the love of his life, Ruby Geraldine Harris, in Emporia, Virginia.  After settling in Hollister, North Carolina, their union was blessed with six children. One son, Ronald Williams, preceded him in death.

“Bro”, as he was affectionately known, accepted Christ at an early age, was faithful to Christ, and worked in the church until his death. He served as president of the senior choir, as a Deacon, and as Sunday School Superintendent at Cornerstone Holy Church in Littleton, North Carolina, and also served on the Financial Committee of the Southern Central District Missionary Department.

In addition to his parents and son, he was also predeceased by three brothers, Clarence, McCoy and Horace Williams.

Those left with treasured memories to forever share are his loving and devoted wife, Ruby Harris Williams of the home; four sons, Stanley Williams (Mittie) of Hollister, NC, Robert Williams and Frederick Williams (Marian) of Rocky Mount, NC, and Michael Williams (Renee) of Battleboro, NC; one daughter, Cynthia Gorham (Antonio) of Rocky Mount, NC; five siblings, David Williams and Eugene Williams of Hollister, NC, Fred Williams (Lucille) and Beatrice Williams of New Haven, CT, and Florida Alston (Nick) of Littleton, NC; two sisters-in-law, Alice Harris of Hollister, NC, and Dorothy Williams-Holloway of New Haven, CT; one brother-in-law, Sidney Harris of Rocky Mount, NC; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. Elder Frederick Williams will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Cornerstone Holy Church Cemetery, 1327 Summit Road, Littleton, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M.-8:30 P.M. on Friday, May 30, 2014.
