Bernadine Richardson

BERNADINE RICHARDSON was born to the late Will Richardson and Adgelean Hedgepeth Richardson on August 13, 1946, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest and peace on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Hunter Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Bernadine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age and joined the Pine Chapel Baptist Church in Hollister, North Carolina. She remained a faithful member until her health declined.

Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and she then furthered her studies at Halifax Community College in Weldon, North Carolina.

Bernadine was united in Holy Matrimony to John W. Richardson, Jr., who preceded her in death. God blessed this union with one son and two daughters. She was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed sewing, making clothes for her children and for the community, making flower arrangements, and she had a general eye for design.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bernadine was predeceased by her great-grandson, Malachi Richardson.

Those remaining to forever treasure the precious memory of her life and  to share the legacy of her love are her son, Willie J. Richardson (Cheryl) of Hollister, NC; two daughters, Angela Richardson Glover of Rich Square, NC, and Jacquelene Richardson of the home in Hollister, NC; her grandchildren, Holly D. Richardson Milio, Robert O. Williams, and Luther D. Glover IV; one great-grandchild, Adriana A. Milio; five brothers, Linwood Richardson of Hollister, NC, Willie Morris Richardson (Darlis) of Hampton, VA, Ricarrdo Whitehead (Trudy) of Milton, GA, James C. Whitehead of Durham, NC, and Vernon Whitehead (Diane) of Suffolk, VA; one aunt who was like a sister, Carolyn Lynch ( Percy) of Hollister, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many more relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the Pine Chapel Baptist Church, 37571 NC Highway 561, Hollister, NC. Rev. Calvin Hedgepeth will eulogize, and burial will follow in the Pine Chapel Memorial Gardens in Hollister, NC. The body will repose at the funeral home on Monday, September 23, 2019, from 2:00 – 8:30 P.M., with the family receiving friends from 7:00-8:00 P.M. The body may also be viewed at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
