Alvin Ray “Al” Clanton

ALVIN RAY “AL” CLANTON was born on October 5, 1952, in Warren County, North Carolina, to Josephine Vincent Clanton and the late Joe Clanton, Jr.  He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Johnston UNC Health Care Center in Clayton, North Carolina.

During his early life, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, was baptized, and became a member of the Pleasant Zion Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. His formal education was received in the Warren County Public School System, and he attended the former Littleton High School in Littleton, North Carolina.

Alvin became employed at Triton Stables and remained in this profession for thirty years. He retired from McCall’s Bar-B-Q & Seafood Restaurant where he was a cook for many years.

“Al” loved his pets, Rodeos, Country music, cooking and feeding others. He enjoyed fishing, building bird houses, and working on his truck.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Elsie Wilkins (Donald) and Janiece Wilkins (Robert).

Loved ones remaining to forever treasure precious moments shared and the legacy of his love are his son, Delshon L. Harding (Tonya), and his grandchildren, Keiston and De Anthony all of Creedmoor, NC;  his mother, Josephine Clanton of Littleton, NC, (Newberry, SC); his loving and devoted companion, Natalie Goszewski of Benson, NC; his sister, Doriece McMorris (Harold) of Newberry, SC; two brothers, Joe Elton Clanton of Littleton, NC, and Steve Jones (Lee Ann) of El Paso, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Pleasant Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. The Pastor, Rev. Clinton Boyd, will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home on Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 2:00 -8:30 P.M., and at the church for one hour prior to the funeral time.
