Alice Ann Turner

ALICE ANN “ANN” TURNER, daughter of the late George Turner and Mary Garris Turner, was born on June 12, 1946, in Northampton County, Pleasant Hill, North Carolina.

During her early life, Ann professed faith in Jesus Christ, was baptized, and became a lifelong member of the Faithful Band Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, North Carolina. Her formal education was received at the former Pleasant View Elementary School, Coates Elementary School, and Gumberry High School in Northampton County.

For several years, Ann was employed at the New Yorker Restaurant in Weldon, North Carolina. She later worked for Cash and Carry Cleaners also in Weldon, North Carolina, for over twenty years until declining health prevailed.

Ann was a loving, kind, person who truly adored her family. Although she never had children of her own, her nieces, nephews, and beloved dog, Sheba, became her “Children of the heart”. She always made sure that they had whatever they wanted or needed and was also willing to help anyone else without them even asking. Ann enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading the Bible.

Early Friday morning, on April 26, 2019, Ann answered God’s call to eternal rest in the comfort of her home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and peacefully entered the Heavenly realm. Her earthly presence will be greatly missed, and she will be forever remembered for her soft laughter, gentle hugs, and quiet manner.

Ann is now enjoying the pleasures of Heaven with her parents, George and Mary Turner; one sister, Emma Deloatch; two brothers, James Otis Turner and Joe Louis Garris; and two nieces, Angel Nicole Avens and Tammy Malendez.

Those remaining to cherish the precious memories of her sweet humble spirit are her sisters, Mildred Patterson (Richer) of the home, and Etterine Cotton of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her brother, George Turner, Jr. (Mable) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her brother-in-law, George Deloatch of Garysburg, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Faithful Band Missionary Baptist Church, 1233 Cornwallis Road, Pleasant Hill, NC. Bishop Tony Jones will eulogize, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will repose at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon – 8:30 P.M. on Friday, May 3, 2019.
