Addie Gertrude Carter Faulcon

It has pleased the Almighty God to remove from our presence a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. On Monday, January 29, 2018, our loved one, Addie Gertrude Carter Faulcon, peacefully departed this earthly life and entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father in the serenity of her home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 12, 1925, in Halifax County, North Carolina, to the late Daniel and Josephine Carter.

During her early life, she professed her faith and love in Jesus Christ and joined the Springfield Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. Her formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System.

Addie was united in Holy Matrimony to Gundy Cleveland Faulcon who preceded her in death. God blessed this union with eleven children. She was humble, had a loving heart, and dedicated her life to her children and also shared her love with many others. Her smiling face, God-given talents, strength of character, and nurturing ways will be forever missed and long remembered. “Mama” was the matriarch of her family and her neighborhood. She never turned anyone away, her door was always open.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by five children, Gundy, Jr., Ricky, Kenneth, Catherine, and Larry; and all of her siblings.

Those left to cherish the special memories of her life and love are her three daughters, Addie Johnson (Herbert) of the home, and Frances Rosser and Lisa Squire (Cecil) all of Littleton, NC; three sons, Charles Faulcon (Nellie) of Littleton, NC, and Morris Faulcon (Louise) and Stanley Faulcon all of Baltimore, MD; three step-children, Kelvin Clanton (Tegra) of Baltimore, MD, Patricia Foots of Plainfield, NJ, and Joanie Payne of Fayetteville, NC; her special caregiver whom she took under her wings and loved as a daughter; Thelma Riggins;  twenty-three grandchildren, two of whom were reared as her own, Tamala and Armond Ellis; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; four other daughters-in-law; another son-in-law; four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
